This project is ideal for introducing upper elementary and middle school students to using x-acto knives in art. It calls upon the cultural history of fabric mola designs from Panama and allows students to embellish a symbol important to them. The key concept of this lesson is overlapping of paper with color theory in mind to create texture using positive and negative space.
